What to burn & how

It might seem obvious but there are a lot of factors to consider when choosing fuel for your stove.  When burning wood it is important to consider the moisture content.  Firewood ready for burning should never contain more than 25% moisture.  Burning 'wet' wood causes your appliance to burn inefficiently but can also result in blockages and chimney fires and corrosion of the metal liner resulting from condensation.

What heat output do you need?

To calculate what heat output you need from your stove (measured in kW) simply divide the volume of your room (in cubic metres) by 14.

The volume of your room is the width x length x height (usually 2.4 metres)
